Pause Petition
You may have heard about the Pause Petition demanding AI development be paused and signed by many AI practitioners (scroll the petition page to see the list of signatories). You can read and even sign the petition HERE.
Comment by Keith: if the major players that signed this document wanted to stop development they could right now. The issue would seem to be a competition question of: ‘who goes first’? Real moral courage and ethics would say he/she/they who go first are heroes. Let’s use our agency as non-practitioners to make some noise about a serious pause! This will take much more effort than signing this petition. Some months on now, the petition proved ineffective except for earning media coverage. Perhaps that was the point.
